PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
Songwriting Camp SFU Edition
Songwriting Camp is a FREE program where participants will be invited to work individually or in pairs on a musical project of their choice, to raise awareness for a chosen mental health topic. Throughout the camp’s 4-week runtime, participants will attend three weekly online workshops delivered by the MMH team, covering the basics of music production and composition, as well as a group discussion about select mental health issues faced by youths today. Campers will also be an invited to an in-person jazz composition workshop by the SFU Jazz Band, as well as the opportunity to perform at a concert hosted by SFU Peak Frequency.
Finished projects will be posted to MMH’s official YouTube and Instagram account, where community members will be able to vote on the project they deem the most impactful, or is their personal favourite. The winner(s) of this community voting event will each receive a $25 Amazon gift card.
This is the third iteration of Songwriting Camp, following a highly successful first run earlier this year.
