REBECCA YANG

President and Chair of the Board

Rebecca, a recent UBC graduate with a major in Behavioural Neuroscience, founded Music for Mental Health in 2021 after assembling a team and operating it as an independent group, starting in 2020. She is highly passionate about using music to communicate personal experiences and emotion, and using that as a tool to spread awareness and promote discussion around mental health issues. As someone who has had mental health struggles herself, she hopes that the work of MMH will help others feel better understood and less alone.

CHASE BERNATH

Vice-President and Director of Operations

Chase graduated from the UBC Sauder School of Business with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and a minor in Applied Music Technology. In addition to helping run Music For Mental Health, he leads music production workshops, and produces the majority of music for the organization. Chase was motivated to build Music For Mental Health after struggling with mental health challenges during the pandemic. He is currently an Editor at soundguys.com, where he works with a variety of companies in the audio industry.

ANGELINA WU

 Director of Advocacy

Majoring in Psychology and International Relations, Angelina hopes to use her talents in communication and her academic knowledge in psychology to engage and inform. Angelina has always had a fascination in psychology and helping others so she is honoured to take on this role. She hopes to be able to inform and learn from others to better her role in Music for Mental Health. She is excited to positively contribute to the club and see it prosper.

CHER PENG

Director of Logistics

Cher is a final year COGS student at UBC. She is passionate about community building and events logistics. Cher currently runs Purple Lotus, an all in one mental wellness platform that provides personalized support. In Cher’s free time, she teaches piano and composition. She also hosts community language learning and cultural events.

CHRIS MOK

Director of Outreach

With his passion for neuroscience and mental health, as well as his music pedagogy and performance experience, Music for Mental Health serves as the perfect intersection point for Chris to contribute his skills towards a common vision of using music to foster widespread awareness and advocacy for mental health.

Kaitlyn graduated from UBC with a major in Creative Writing.

HANNAH JAY LIN

Director of Songwriting

Hannah is a recent UBC graduate with a major in Biology and a minor in Creative Writing. She aims to foster connection and change, promoting destigmatization of conversations and support for mental illness. By bridging the gap between music and mental health, she hopes that music can bring solace to those grappling with similar challenges, and find strength and solidarity in their stories.

JAMES LIAM WONG

Admin/Advocacy

James is a current UBC student with an immense passion for psychology and mental well being. With dreams to eventually become a clinical psychologist, he plans on traveling the world to integrate different psychological viewpoints and perspectives into his craft.

ETHAN ROKER

Website Developer

Ethan is a computer science major with a focus on cyber security. He is very passionate towards mental health, tech, and support for mental illness. In his free time you can find him playing games, bouldering, building models, or hanging out with friends. Ethan hopes to help MMH make an impact on the mental health community.
